[WORLD CUP 2010 QUALIFYING] Euro ’08 hero Fernando Torres is out of the Spain squad for its upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Armenia due to a hamstring injury, opening the door for Coach Vicente Del Bosque to select teen sensation Bojan Krkic.

Bojan Krkic, who was born in Spain to a Serbian father and a Catalan mother, played for Spain at the U-17 and U-21 level but was courted by Serbia to play at the national team level.

“For me, it is an award to be with the champions of Europe,” Bojan said. “But I’m not anxious. If I have the opportunity to make my debut all the better, but if not, it will happen another time. I’m not worried.”

Bojan, who plays for Barcelona, said he always wanted to play for Spain.

“I’ve been Spanish since I was little,” he said, “and for that reason I’m here, I want to play with the Spanish team. I’m here and I have always wanted it and have always shown my preference for the Spanish national team.”
