[AMERICAN IN SPAIN] Jozy Altidore, the 18-year-old forward who joined Villarreal in the summer, made his Spanish La Liga debut as a halftime sub in a 1-0 win over Deportivo Coruna. Altidore's play drew praise from Spanish sports daily Marca, which said he was "a force off the bench who created much danger."
According to Marca, Altidore show much "promise" as an attacking force for Villarreal, which was without injured starting strikers Nihat Kahveci and Giuseppe Rossi, the New Jersey product who plays international ball for Italy.
Altidore nearly set up a goal with a fine cross that went unexploited and his 60th minute long-distance shot was handled with difficulty by the Deportivo keeper.
