Loyola (Md.) and Appalachian State both went into action with perfect records, but both suffered blemishes that left only four unbeaten and untied teams in the NCAA Division I men’s ranks.

High Point ranked Appalachian State its first loss of the season, prevailing, 2-1, on goals by Scott Rojo and Hilaire Babou.

Goalie Michael Chesler kept Appy State off the board until the 89th minute when Ryan Maloney scored.

William & Mary held Loyola to a 0-0 tie. Loyola managed 10 shots in the match, but Daniel Ankrah‘s first-half strike was the only one on goal.

The shutout was the fourth of the season for the Greyhounds (5-0-1) and the 11th straight home shutout.
