Juergen Klinsmann has been coach of Bayern Munich for 100 days, with decidedly mixed results so far from his California-influenced reforms. But despite the German giant’s mid-standings position and ropey league form (nine points from seven games), including a 5-2 home shellacking by Werder Bremen, Klinsmann’s job has been guaranteed until the end of the season.

“In principle, he’s doing everything right,” said Bayern’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “It’s just the results that aren’t right at the moment.” He said there were “absolutely no doubts” that Klinsmann would still be team coach at the season’s end.

Rummenigge renewed appeals to fans for patience after “Klinsmann Out!” chants were heard during Saturday’s 3-3 home tie with Bochum. “Bayern, and expressly its fans too, will have to prove this season whether we’re only stable when we’re winning, or whether we have the patience and the confidence to strike out on completely new paths.”
