Former Mexico coach Ricardo La Volpe has parted ways with Monterrey a week before the start of the second half of the Mexican league season. Monterrey was the former Argentine international’s third club since the 2006 World Cup. He had short stints in Argentina with Boca Juniors and Velez Sarsfield. The outspoken La Volpe ran into trouble in Monterrey when he panned city rival Tigres, dubbing them boring before their derby. La Volpe’s comments backfired when Tigres won, 4-1.
