Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillette are having a hard time convincing an investor consortium from Kuwait that the English Premier League team is worth the $625 million that the two American businessman have valued it at.
According to an ESPN Soccernet report, consortium spokesman and possible investor Abdulla Al-Sager admitted that ongoing negotiations are ”going really badly, because they are asking for too much. I don’t think anything will happen unless we get a better price.”
The next step in negotiations is expected to involved a waiting game “until July when Hicks and Gillett have to see if they can refinance Liverpool’s $375 million in debts.” If not, the price will likely fall and other ownership groups, another from the Middle East and one from the USA, could become part of the process.
