Although the agreement between AC Milan and the LA Galaxy that was announced on Saturday night wasn’t much different from original reports, there were a couple new twists, the first being that Beckham had to bankroll part of the deal to make it happen. According to the AP, “he and AC Milan are jointly paying the Galaxy in a ‘multi-million dollar deal’ to extend his loan.”

Although specific financial terms were not disclosed, the 33-year-old England international reportedly has to part with millions from his own pocket, causing AC Milan VP Adriano Galliani to gush that “all players express their affection for a club, but few have shown it in such a tangible manner by renouncing a mountain of money. Beckham is one of these."

The other previously unannounced part of the agreement will have AC Milan extending their three-game East Coast trip to the USA this Summer to include a friendly at the Galaxy’s home in Carson on July 19, three days after Beckham is set to make his debut against the NY Red Bulls in a July 16 match that was moved two days to accommodate the high-profile exhibition.
