According to ESPN Soccernet, West Ham United has reportedly agreed to pay some $12 million to Sheffield United over the next five years in order to settle the 2-year-old case of the ineligibility of striker Carlos Tevez.
Sheffield had originally claimed that Tevez was not eligible to compete in the last few games of the 2006-07 season, including the final game in which he scored the gamewinner over Manchester United that thereby allowed West Ham to stay up in the English Premier League, while Sheffield was sent down a division.
Sheffield was originally seeking approximately $56 million in damages claiming lost revenue from being a part of the EPL, but Hammer officials lowered that figure significantly after pointing out the savings in player wages, scouting, etc.
