While South Africa has witnessed a spectacular demand for tickets to next summer’s World Cup, the country hopes demand will increase for next month’s Confederations Cup. Around 340,000 of the 640,000 tickets for the competition have been sold. FIFA and South Africa’s Local Organizing Committee hope that selling tickets more directly to the South African public will improve sales. So far South African residents have purchased 95 percent of the tickets.
