On Sunday, FC Dallas won its first game since topping Toronto FC on April 19. Its second win of the season came against the second-best team in the MLS, the previously unbeaten Chicago Fire.
“The ball hasn’t bounced right for us this year. Today it did,” FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman said. “Our first 10 games we started out 1-6-3. This is the start of our next 10 games. Now we put those first 10 games behind us and use this to move forward.”
FC Dallas’ young squad dominated play against a tired Fire team. Despite the even shots between the two teams, FC Dallas tripled Chicago’s shots on goal, 6-2. Dallas also kept most of the possession en route to shutting out the league’s best offense, 3-0. “It gives us some belief,” FC Dallas defender Drew Moor said. “We’re now unbeaten in three games. We have a young team, but a talented team. Slowly we’re starting to turn this thing around.”
