Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu is progressing well after knee surgery and is set to return to action in September. The United States international incurred the injury in the Glasgow club's title-clincher against Dundee United. The injury forced Edu to sit out the Scottish Cup final win over Falkirk in May.
"Even when I hurt my knee, I just thought it was a little injury and I had been looking forward to the cup final and winning the double,'' Edu said. "I'm glad we went on to get it but it would have been nice to have been part of that and missing out was a setback.'' Edu also missed his USA's run to the final of the Confederations Cup last month when the Americans lost 3-2 to Brazil.
"That's just how the game goes sometimes and I'm concentrating instead now on trying to play again,'' he said. "I'm really happy for the guys who did well because I think it opened a lot of peoples' eyes to the fact we can play football. It shone a light on Americans and proved we do have some talent in our country. That was great.''
