[WOMEN'S EURO '09] England held on for a 1-1 tie with Sweden on Monday and earned a wild-card berth into the quarterfinals of the 2009 European Women's Championship, where it will face host Finland.

It's been a tough road for England, which fell to Italy, 2-1, in its opening game and then needed goals from WPS players Karen Carney, Eniola Aluko and Kelly Smith to beat Russia, 3-2, after going down by two goals after only 22 minutes.

All three teams with WPS players moved into the quarterfinals.

Camille Abily scored her second goal of the tournament in France's 1-1 tie with Sweden.

Other WPS players competing in Finland are Anita Asante, Alex Scott and Karen Bardsley (England), Sonia Bompastor (France) and Sara Larsson (Sweden).

Former Florida State player Kirsten van de Ven, who plays for the Netherlands, and Abily are tied for the scoring lead with two goals.
