[MAKING A LIST] Indicative of the speculative nature of Portuguese club Benfica's activity on the player market, the Eagles made deals involving 28 players on the summer market that closed Monday. The loan deal involving Freddy Adu was one of 10 Benfica made to reduce its roster.
Besides Adu, who moved on loan to Belenenses, Honduran star David Suazo left the Eagles when their loan deal with Inter Milan expired and former Spain international Jose Reyes returned to Atletico Madrid.
Benfica spent almost $36 million on new players, acquiring Brazilian national team player Ramires from Cruzeiro and Argentine Javier Saviola from Real Madrid.
Perhaps the biggest is the loan deal that brought Brazilian teenage star Keirrison — named after the late signer Jim Morrison — on loan from Barcelona.
