The USA needs a win Trinidad & Tobago on Wednesday to distinguish itself among the leaders in Concacaf qualifying; only one point separates the top four teams. But Martin Rogers points out the game in Port of Spain promises to be tricky for the Americans because seven players — Landon Donovan, Jozy Altidore, Carlos Bocanegra, Ricardo Clark, Clint Dempsey, Benny Feilhaber and Steve Cherundolo — carry a yellow card into the game and another caution means suspension from its next qualifier, Oct. 10 at current leader Honduras.
“The Americans are at their best when they impose themselves physically, especially in defense and midfield. However, that kind of mentality comes with a price,” writes Rogers.
