Hungary and Portugal face off today in a match that is pivotal for both team's World Cup qualification chances. Hungary, currently four points behind Denmark in Group 1, lost to Sweden 2-1 over the weekend. Portugal is fourth in the group with 10 points from seven games, three behind Hungary and seven off leaders Denmark, against whom they drew 1-1 in Copenhagen on Saturday. Liedson's last-gasp strike gave them a lifeline, and Coach Carlos Queiroz has told his side to grasp it.
"I don't want Portugal to be a team that almost qualified," Queiroz said. "I want us to keep on playing well, creating scoring opportunities and dominating matches. The goals will come if we play well. I'm sure we'll score against Hungary. We are on the right track and I'm proud of the team."
