Medical tests on Bayern Munich midfielder Arjen Robben have confirmed that he suffered a ligament tear in his knee during Bayern's 0-0 draw with Juventus. The injury should sideline the Dutch playmaker for up to four weeks. The injury is less severe than Bayern coach Luis Van Gaal originally feared, but it comes at the start of Bayern's best spell so far this season.
''I think that we have not played a single game this season as well as the first half,'' Van Gaal said. ''We had plenty of gilt-edged chances, but did not score. That is a shame, but if we keep playing like this, then it is only going to be a matter of time.''
Robben will undergo surgery later this week in Augsburg to repair the damage. Meanwhile, Bayern's other winger, Franck Ribery, is in doubt for Bayern's home game with Cologne on Saturday as he aggravated a recurring knee injury against Juventus.
