DaMarcus Beasley, Landon Donovan and Kasey Keller are the three finalists for the 2005 Honda Player of the Year.

The winner will be announced during the award luncheon celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Honda Player of the Year, which will take place on Nov. 30 at The Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

The finalists were selected by 206 sports journalists from across the nation.

Beasley, a finalist for the second consecutive year, scored four goals for the national team in 2005, including two against Jamaica in the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup and a crucial goal against Mexico in World Cup qualifying that helped clinch a place for the U.S. in the 2006 World Cup. With his club, PSV Eindhoven of the Netherlands, Beasley won the Eredivisie championship, the Dutch Cup, and became the first American to play in a semifinal match of the UEFA Champions League. During the 2004-2005 season, Beasley scored 6 goals in 29 league matches for PSV.

Donovan, the only three-time winner of the Honda Player of the Year, led the USA in scoring with six goals in 2005. Also this year Donovan, only 23, moved into third place on the all-time U.S. national team goal scorers list with 25 goals.

Keller, a finalist for the first time since he won the Honda Player of the Year in 1999, joins Claudio Reyna as the only two five-time finalists in the history of the award. In 2005, Keller shut out five consecutive opponents in World Cup qualifying, including each of the other teams participating in the final round of CONCACAF play. Keller has been outstanding this fall for Borussia Moenchengladbach in Germany.
