Eddie Pope is out of the Confederations Cup after suffering a knee injury during the MetroStars' 1-1 tie at Columbus last Saturday.

Pope has been diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture in the patella of his left knee. Pope, 29, underwent an MRI examination yesterday after taking a knock in the first half of the game in Columbus. He is expected to be out 6-8 weeks.

St. Pauli defender Cory Gibbs has replaced Pope. Gibbs, 22, is making his first appearance in a camp with the senior team. He played on the U.S. Under-20 team in the 1999 World Youth Championship along with Carlos Bocanegra, Dan Califf, Steve Cherundolo, Tim Howard, and Taylor Twellman, all members of the U.S. Confederations Cup roster.
