Former Arizona State head coach Teri Patraw, away from college soccer the past two years while pursuing a master's degree, has been hired to lead the University of Nevada's women's program, the school announced Thursday.
Patraw built Arizona State's women's program from scratch into an NCAA second-round team in 2000, then stepped down as Sun Devils coach to enter a two-year MBA course at ASU and establish an investment firm. In five years in Tempe, Patraw was 46-31-2, 14-7-1 in her final season.
Patraw, a former standout at the University of Wisconsin, previously was an assistant coach at Washington State and Kentucky, and she coached at several Madison, Wis., high schools in the late 1980s and early '90s.
She replaces Dang Pibulvech, who was informed in November that his contract would not be renewed. Pibulvech was 12-58-2 in four seasons in Reno.
