Wednesday, July 23 at the Orange Bowl in Miami (8 pm ET/5 pm PT)
TV: live on Galavision
The USA's defense of the Gold Cup title is at stake tonight when it faces Brazil in a semifinal that will determine who meets the winner of Mexico-Costa Ric in the final. Brazil is fielding an U-23 team, featuring Diego and Robinho, stars of Libertadores Cup runner-up Santos. The USA will be without defender Danny Califf, who is serving a yellow-card suspension.
HEAD-TO-HEAD: The Brazil has won 10 of its 11 encounters with the USA. The only U.S. win came under Coach Steve Sampson in the semifinals of the 1998 Gold Cup, a 1-0 triumph on a goal by Preki.
