Kristi Sullivan, expected to watch from the sidelines with a hamstring injury, scored a goal and assisted two others as host Westmont romped past Robert Morris of Chicago, 6-0, Thursday night in the second round of the NAIA Championship at Santa Barbara (Calif.) City College.
Sullivan, the NAIA Player of the Year in 2002, played 60 minutes despite the injury as the second-seeded Warriors (19-1-1) advanced to Saturday's quarterfinal against the winner of Friday's second-round match between Lindenwood (Mo.) and Bethel (Tenn.)
Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), third-seeded Azusa Pacific (Calif.) and fourth-seeded Concordia (Ore.) also advanced to the quarterfinals with little trouble.
Erin Arbizu had a hat trick as Azusa Pacific (13-3-3) dominated McKendree (Ill.), 4-0. Nkese Udoh scored the first goal and assisted two more as Lindsey Wilson (23-1-0) beat up on Mary (N.D.), 8-1. Malloree Enoch and Amy Jackson scored first-half goals to lead Concordia (19-1-3) past Thomas (Ga.), 2-0.
Cal Baptist earned a spot in the main draw by beating Union (Ky.) on penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw. The NAIA on Wednesday approved Cal Baptist's appeal to enter the 20-team tournament after the Riverside, Calif., school was excluded because of a tabulation error in the selection process. The Lancers offered to play Union, which was preparing for its initially scheduled game Friday against Houghton (N.Y.), rather than replace the Lady Bulldogs in the main draw.
