MLS has reached an agreement in principle with Heritage Development Company and its principles Bert L. Wolstein and John McGill for an expansion team in Cleveland.
MLS will add expansion teams in Cleveland and a site to be determined for its team operated by Jorge Vergara, owner of Mexican club Chivas, in 2005.
Wolstein has long been involved in indoor soccer with the Cleveland Force. The Cleveland group is negotiating with the City of Cleveland and the County of Cuyahoga on a soccer stadium.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber also said Friday that Oklahoma City (20,000-seat soccer stadium to be built at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla.) is also a possibility as an expansion team.
