Former Atlanta Beat defender Nancy Augustyniak, fresh from a week in camp with the U.S. womenÆs national team, returns to FFC Turbine Potsdam for its German League clash Sunday at SC 07 Bad Neuenahr.
Nancy Augustyniak missed TurbineÆs 3-0 victory last weekend at Hamburger SV, which kept the East Germans (15-1-1) within striking distance of Frauen-Bundesliga leader FFC Frankfurt (17-1-0), but twin sister Julie came on as a second-half substitute.
Bad Neuenahr (7-8-2) includes former Cal State Dominguez Hills forward Dianne Garza on its roster, but she has not seen first-team league action this season.
Goalkeeper Hope Solo, who has shut out four opponents in five Swedish League games, leads third-place Kopparbergs/Goteborg (4-1-0) Saturday against Balinge (1-3-1) before heading to a stint with the U.S. womenÆs national team.
Solo, formerly with the Philadelphia Charge, arrives in Southern California on Monday as a ôguestö player in the national teamÆs Olympic Residency at the Home Depot Center.
In Finland, former Duqesne defender Becky Barritt is looking for her first Naisten SM appearance for FC Honka (0-1-1), which plays Sunday at FC United.
Barritt saw no action in HonkaÆs 4-2 loss Thursday to FC Espoo in an Espoo derby. Notre Dame recruit Jannica Tjeder scored FC EspooÆs first goal.
