Two goals by Zinedine Zidane — one on a free kick, the other from the penalty spot — during second-half injury time gave France a 2-1 victory over England Sunday in Lisbon at the European Championship.

Frank Lampard scored on a 38th-minute header to give England a 1-0 lead, the first goal the French allowed in 1,078 minutes.

The key play came in the 72nd minute when Fabien Barthez stopped David Beckham's penalty kick in a battle of former Manchester United teammates.

In the other Group B game, Croatia and Switzerland tied, 0-0.
