EURO 2004: Van Nistelrooy gem gives Dutch tie with Germany

With a defender on his back, Ruud Van Nistelrooy hooked Andy Van der Meyde's cross to the near post past German goalie Oliver Kahn to give the Netherlands a 1-1 tie in a Group C match it looked like losing.

Torsten Frings' strike in the 30th minute gave Germany the lead, and the Germans' confidence grew as the match wore on.

Milan Baros (73rd minute) and Marek Heinz (85th) capitalized on late blunders by Latvia goalie Aleksandrs Kolinko to give the Czech Republic a 2-1 comeback win.

Latvia, playing in its first major championship, had led on Maris Verpakovskis' goal in the 45th minute.
