Swedish World Cup star Kristen Bengtsson spoiled Hope Solo's bid for a seventh shutout this season, lifting Djurgarden/Alvsjo to a 1-0 Damallsvenskan triumph Wednesday over visiting Kopparbergs/Goteborg.

Bengtsson, who played in the WUSA with San Diego and Carolina in 2001, converted a 90th-minute penalty kick as second-place D/A (10-0-2) remained within a point of Swedish League leader Umea IK (11-1-0).

Venus James, who won WUSA titles in San Jose and Carolina, started up front for D/A.

Solo, a rookie with the WUSA's Philadelphia Charge last year, led K/Goteborg (4-5-3) to a 1-1 tie D/A in their first meeting 11 days earlier.

Former Rutgers standout Denise Reddy anchored the Malmo FF backline in a 1-0 Damallsvenskan victory over visiting Linkopings FC (5-5-2) on Tuesday. Heidi Kackur's 18th-minute strike — her league-leading 11th goal of the season — snatched the three points for third-place Malmo (9-1-2).

Umea IK (11-1-0) toppled host Sjalevads IK, 4-0, as Swedish star Hanna Ljungberg scored in her second game back after recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

All three Americans in Iceland's Landsbankadeild Kvenna played 90 minutes on Tuesday.

Former Charge defender Mary McVeigh helped second-place IBV (4-0-2) romp, 6-0, at home against lowly Fjolnir (0-5-1). Elin Anna Steinarsdottir netted a hat trick for IBV, and Olga Faerseth added a pair of goals.

Sixth-place Stjarnan (0-3-3), with former University of South Carolina defender Alison Jarrow and current Gamecock Sarah Lentz, was beaten, 5-1, by third-place KR (4-1-1). Gudlaug Jonsdottir and Holmfridur Magnusdottir scored two goals apiece for KR (4-1-1) clobbered Stjarnan (0-3-3).

Former Charge defender-midfielder Rachel Kruze travels Friday to Iceland, and she expects to make her league debut Monday for IBV at first-place Valur (6-0-0) on Monday.
