Winners:

LIVERPOOL and AC Milan served up the highest-scoring final in Europe's premier club competition since Benfica's 5-3 triumph over Real Madrid in 1962. Liverpool, which won on a penalty-kick tiebreaker after the game ended at 3-3, had trailed 3-0 at halftime before scoring three goals in six minutes. That marks the biggest final-game comeback in the European Cup's 50 year history. Liverpool, which fielded two Englishmen against AC Milan, also set the mark for fewest "home" players used by a winning team in the final.

The SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES, who recently lost four starters to injury, on Wednesday downed Colorado, 1-0. Playing 90 minutes for the Quakes was Mark Chung, who arrived from Colorado last week. ALEJANDRO MORENO scored the winner.

CHIVAS GUADALAJARA, which failed to reach the Mexican league playoffs this season, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Libertadores Cup thanks to a 4-1 aggregate win over fellow Mexican club Pachuca.

Losers:

The LOS ANGELES GALAXY, missing attacker Landon Donovan because of national team duty, saw its perfect record at home – five wins – come to an end Wednesday in a scoreless tie  with Columbus.

The METROSTARS, which won their previous two away games while failing to win any of their five homes games, dropped their first road game on Wednesday, falling to Kansas City, 1-0, on Davy Arnaud's second goal of the season.
