Defending champion Fresno State is picked to win the WAC women’s crown.
The Bulldogs return nine starters, including the 2005 WAC Defensive Player of the Year, Rochelle Jagdeo, and two other first-team all-conference picks — forward Cortney Sobrero and goalkeeper Angie Larsen.
Hawaii, the 2005 regular-season champion, has been selected by the coaches to finish second. The Rainbow Wahine return seven starters, including first-team all-WAC selections Jessica Domingo and Koren Takayama. Projected to finish third is San Jose State, led by 2005 WAC Freshman of the Year Liz Behlen, followed in order by Nevada, Utah State, Boise State and Louisiana Tech.
Sobrero and Jagdeo were tabbed as the Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.
