Katia scored twice as the San Jose CyberRays, stung by late goals the previous two weekends, completed a three-game homestand with a 2-0 victory over Washington before 7,706 at Spartan Stadium. Katia's third and fourth goals of the season, headers in the 26th and 74th minutes, highlighted an emphatic victory by the Rays (3-3-1, 10 points), who outshot Washington (2-4-1, 7 points), 23-5, and might have scored a half-dozen goals or more with better finishing. San Jose went ahead after Kim Clark kept alive a Sissi corner kick, with Katia's header crossing the goalline before defender Casey Zimny could nod it back out. Katia headed home a long ball from Sissi, on the left flank, to extend the lead in the second half. Brandi Chastain hit the crossbar, shots by Sissi, Clark and Katia skidded just wide of a post, and slow reaction time cost Clark on two other strong chances.
