Jose Gomez Kelowna, British Columbia What do you think are the chances for a MLS expansion team in Canada? Canada is now considering the creation of a professional soccer league by the year 2001. I understand that MLS is planning to increase its team franchises just about the same year. Do you think a joint effort between MLS and the Canadian Soccer Association may lead to Canadian-based teams in the MLS? Ridge Mahoney: Jose: No chance at all for MLS to expand into Canada. It has American cities stacked up, and it would have revamp its definition of foreign players, and would have to rework its national TV deals. If there was any hope of Canadian teams in MLS, there’d be no need for Canada to form its own league.
