Wednesday Games
NEW YORK-D.C UNITED
TV: 7:30 pm ET on MSG, Direct Kick.
Bruce Arena‘s first MLS game as coach of the New York Red Bulls comes against D.C. United, the club he turned into the MLS’s flagship while at its helm during the league’s first three seasons. One of Arena’s first moves in New York was to sign bruiser Dema Kovalenko, who played for D.C. United in 2003-05 before a stint in his native Ukraine. Arena takes over after interim head coach Richie Williams guided the Bulls to three wins and a tie in their last four games.

COLUMBUS-REAL SALT LAKE
TV: 7:30 pm ET on Fox Soccer Channel, FSN-Ut, Direct Kick.
It’s the worst of the East vs. the worst of the West. Coach Sigi Schmid‘s Columbus (20 points) has a 12-game winless streak and its leading scorer, Kei Kamara, has scored three goals. With 13 goals, Jeff Cunninghman leads the league and Real Salt Lake (23 points) in scoring.

CHICAGO-KANSAS CITY
9:00 pm ET. No TV.
The pressure’s on Coach Dave Sarachan, whose Chicago Fire slipped out of a playoff spot last weekend while extending its winless streak to five games despite playing all those games in its new Toyota Park. A win today puts Chicago back in the playoff zone. Kansas City’s World Cup forward Eddie Johnson has just two goals in 11 games this season.
