Liverpool is moving ever closer to signing Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt. The Feyenoord man has made it clear now that he intends to move to Anfield, where the Dutch club will either have to accept a deal involving Jan Kromkamp or staggered payments if they stick steadfastly to their $19 million asking price. The Liverpool Echo, a local paper, said a deal would be done this week, despite Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder’s continued interest in the player. Kuyt would become the fourth senior striker at Liverpool along with Craig Bellamy, Peter Crouch and Robbie Fowler, who makes his comeback from injury in the reserves this week. Kuyt’s transfer is expected to be completed in time for his debut against Sheffield United on Saturday.
