Owen Hargreaves is keen on a possible move to Manchester United, after it was revealed that the Old Trafford club made him an offer. Hargreaves, who has been vocal about his desire to play in the Premier League, called the offer “fantastic,” but Uli Hoeness, Bayern’s general manager, countered by saying the subject was not open for discussion. “Owen has a contract until 2010 and he will complete it. The issue is closed.” Bayern would be particularly reluctant to sell the Canadian-born and -raised Hargreaves after his fellow central midfielder Michael Ballack left the club to join Chelsea at the end of last season. But Hargreaves says he wants to move. “To play (for Manchester United) is a great opportunity and I would be happy if I got that chance,” he said. “You never know if such an opportunity will arise again.” United’s bid was approximately $25 million.
