MLS: Quakes finish last in group at La Manga Cup

The San Jose Earthquakes finish last in Group B after falling to Viking, 3-1, Monday on Viking's Bjorn Berland's hat trick.

Ronnie Ekelund scored for the second straight match for the Quakes, who wrap up play on Thursday, Feb. 27, in the seventh-place game against Lyn (Norway).

Landon Donovan and Richard Mulrooney fly out of Spain on Tuesday to return home. Quakes coach Frank Yallop is giving the pair the remainder of the week off.

''At this point, we are not finishing our chances when we get them,'' said Yallop. ''We have been getting punished for little mistakes at the back, and that happened again today.''
