There was more good news than bad for Portugal in its 2-0 win over China in Macao. Playmaker Rui Costa, struggling to regain his form, played 77 minutes. Luis Figo, who replaced Rui Costa, declared himself fir for the World Cup. And Nuno Gomes, another question mark because of recent injury problems, had the first goal. The only down notes were injuries to midfielders Petit (back) and Paulo Sousa (thigh). PORTUGAL-CHINA SUMMARY: May 25 in Macao Portugal 2 China 0. Goals: Nuno Gomez 51, Pauleta 62.
