Mike High Point, N.C. Is there any reasonable ongoing work by MLS with the intent to sign Americans abroad who might not be playing much or playing at a lower level, such as Jovan Kirovski, David Wagner and Brad Friedel? Ridge Mahoney: Mike, neither Kirovski nor Friedel have expressed any desire to play in MLS. Kirovski is balking at being loaned by Dortmund, and Friedel is much happier at Liverpool even though he isn’t playing. I do believe MLS would like to have Kirovski, but he has been so adamant about playing in Europe — or sitting on the bench in Europe, as the case may be — the league has not pressed the issue. There have been a few informal discussions with Wagner, but an average German Second Division player without an MLS team asking for his services isn’t high on the league’s priority list.
