Necaxa of Mexico and the Los Angeles Galaxy of the United States will meet in a one game playoff on August 18th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. to determine who goes forward into the finals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup in Las Vegas from September 28 to October 3. The winner of the Champions Cup will represent the Confederation in the FIFA World Club Championship in Brazil next January. The winner of the Necaxa-LA game will be the fifth, of eight, clubs to qualify for the finals, joining the current CONCACAF champions DC United as well as the Chicago Fire of the USA, Toluca of Mexico and Joe Public of Trinidad, the Caribbean champions. Games continue in Central America in order to provide the three qualifiers for that zone. The final round robin qualifying group will be held on August 25, 27 and 29, at a site to be determined. The two group winners and runners up from the qualifying stage now in process will go into the final pool of four.
