Freddy Adu's first-half goal gave the U.S. under-17 national team a 1-0 win over Newcastle United's youth team Friday night to advance to Sunday's final in the Super Group at the Dallas Cup.

The U-17s will try to become the first American team in the history of the Dallas Cup to win the U-19 Super Group since its creation in 1990 when they face Tigres of Mexico, a 1-0 winner over Guadalajara, in the other semifinal.

The U.S. had to play with only 10 men for the entire second half after central defender Jonathan Spector was given his second yellow card at the end of the first half and was ejected.

The U-17s didnÆt allow a single shot on goal in the second half. April 18 in Dallas
