Leighton O'Brien, the 2002 A-League MVP, is headed to Swedish Superettan (Second Division) club Bodens SK, where he will join fellow A-League 2002 first-teamer Destin Makumbu (Milwaukee Rampage) and American Luchi Gonzalez, the 2001 College Player of the Year.

O'Brien, 27, will leave the Seattle Sounders after their third game. The former University of San Diego star had 13 goals and 11 assists last year to finish third in A-League scoring for Seattle, who had a 23-4-1 record and 107 points, 18 more than the next best team.

Makumbu started and Gonzalez came off the bench in the 2003 opener, a 2-0 loss to FC Cafe Opera Sunday.

Bryce Wegerle, the former Florida high school standout and son of NASL star Steve Wegerle, also spent the preseason with Bodens SK.
