Christian Jimenez nailed two free kicks, giving him three goals on free kicks in two days, to lead the U.S. under-16 national team to a 3-1 win over the Palo Alto (Calif.) Gold Crew in Bracket G of the Dallas Cup's U-17 Group.
Michael Bradley, son of MetroStars coach Bob Bradley, opened the scoring for the Americans with a header off a cross midfielder Jay Singh, one of five non-residency players brought in for the Dallas Cup. Bradley scored twice on penalty kicks in a 3-3 tie with the Dallas Texans in the U-16s' opener.
The U-16s are in second place behind the Dallas Texans, who also have four points but have a better goal differential. The U-16s closes out group play against Yahara United Premier of Wisconsin on Wednesday at 2 p.m. CT.
The U.S. U-17s, who lead their Super Group bracket on goal difference, face Perez Zeledon of Costa Rica on Wednesday at noon CT.
