UCLA, Texas A&M and Santa Clara made moves in the Top 10 and five teams jumped into the rankings in the penultimate Soccer America College Women's Top 25 for 2002.

The Pacific-10 Conference has the top two teams in the Top 25, with UCLA moving up from fourth to second — with Stanford No. 1 — following wins over Oregon and Oregon State. North Carolina, previously No. 2, drops a spot after tying Maryland, its fourth draw of the season and second in three matches.

Texas A&M jumps from sixth to fourth after beating Texas in the Big 12 title showdown, with the Longhorns falling from third to sixth.

Santa Clara's win at Portland pushes it from seventh to fifth. The Pilots, without the services of Canadian national team striker Christine Sinclair, falls to ninth.

Other changes in the Top 15 are minor, but there is an overhaul elsewhere in the Top 25. Tennessee and Denver each jump five spots after capturing their regular-season finales, but losses drop California to 21st, Florida State to 22nd and Arizona State to 23rd.

No. 18 Virginia, No. 19 Maryland and No. 24 Duke, all from the powerful (and exceedingly balanced) ACC, return to the Top 25 following impressive weeks. The newcomers are No. 20 Washington State, which captured road wins against Arizona State and Arizona to move into fourth place in the Pac-10, and No. 25 Saint Louis, which has had a superb season in Conference USA.

Dropping out following losses are Wake Forest (was 16th), Washington (20th), Purdue (23rd), Utah (24th). Auburn (25th) is out after a 0-0 tie with visiting Alabama, its second draw in three SEC matches.
