University of Portland All-American Christine Sinclair and 15-year-old Kara Lang scored two goals apiece as Canada rolled past Japan, 4-0, Tuesday night in Edmonton at the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship.
The host Canadians clinched a quarterfinal berth in the 12-nation competition, joining the United States and Brazil, who qualified Monday for the knockout stage.
One of Sinclair's goals was scored from a penetrating ball delivered by Notre Dame star Candace Chapman.
Denmark held off Nigeria, 2-1, in the other Group A game, with Johanna Rasmussen — a freshman-to-be at Texas Tech — scoring bot Danish goals.
Sinclair, Lang and Rasmussen each have three goals in the competition, as does England's Katy Ward. U.S. forward Kelly Wilson is the top scorer with four goals.
