Ten years after becoming the first Canadian team to win the A-League title in 1994, the Montreal Impact ended the Canadian drought with its second A-League championship.
The Impact beat Seattle, 2-0, in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 13,648 fans at Claude Robillard Stadium.
Mauricio Vincello, the game's MVP, put the Impact on top in the 33rd minute with a shot from the top of the box. Freddy Commodore came on as a sub in the second half and scored from eight yards in the 78th minute.
Montreal dominated most of the play with a 16-5 shot advantage, but nearly saw Seattle level the game 16 minutes from time when Jamaican Craig Tomlinson cracked a shot off the crossbar.
