Emmanuel Adebayor has been handed an additional "suspended two-match ban" for his provocative goal celebration during Manchester City's 4-2 win over Arsenal. The additional ban will be activated only if Adebayor commits a similar breach of FA rules before December 2010. Adebayor received the additional suspension after admitting to a charge of improper conduct to a Football Association regulatory hearing. An FA statement noted that the commission took into account the "extremely provocative nature of the abuse he received" from Arsenal supporters.
In the meantime, Adebayor has served his initial three-game suspension for stamping Robin Van Persie during the same game. The Togo international is free to face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday. "We are just glad to put it all behind us now and I am relieved he will be able to play at Aston Villa on Monday," said Manchester City boss Mark Hughes.
"Manu was in great form before his suspension and having him available again is a huge boost to us," Hughes said.
