[AMERICANS IN ENGLAND] Clint Dempsey might have finally nailed down a starting role for Fulham. In his second straight start of the season he scored his second straight goal. With the Fulham down 2-0 late in the first half, Dempsey scored with a powerful header to set the Cottagers on the way to a 3-3 tie. Teammate Carlos Bocanegra contributed by denying Jermaine Jenas a chance before Dempsey’s strike. Keeper Kasey Keller, who debuted for Fulham last week, was on the bench because starter Antti Niemi was back from injury. Two other American keepers did see action.
Brad Friedel helped Blackburn to a 1-0 win over Manchester City that moved Rovers into seventh place. Tim Howard made big saves as third-place Everton won, 2-1, at Bolton
Americans clashed when 10th place West Ham (Jonathan Spector, 81st minute sub) downed Reading 3-0. Keeper Marcus Hahnemann went the full 90 for 18th place Reading while Bobby Convey played the final 15 minutes.
Neither Eddie Lewis and Benny Feilhaber played as Derby County was thumped, 6-0, by Liverpool.
