Colombian Juan Pablo Angel of the New York Red Bulls heads the players named to the MLS All-Star First XI for the 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game bwteen the MLS All-Stars and Scottish Premier League champion Celtic on July 19 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. The game will be televised live on ESPN2 and Telefutura at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Angel led in total voting percentage ahead of 2006 MLS All-Star MVP Dwayne De Rosario of the Houston Dynamo. Angel and fellow Colombian Juan Toja (FC Dallas) are the only first-year players on the first XI. Second-year player Jonathan Bornstein of Chivas USA is the only other player with no pevious All-Star Game experience.
 
The New England Revolution led all teams with three players among the first XI: defender Michael Parkhurst, midfielder Shalrie Joseph and goalkeeper Matt Reis.

The First XI players are determined by online fan balloting comprising 25 percent of the total vote, with MLS coaches and GMs (25 percent), media (25 percent) and players (25 percent) accounting for the remainder. Revolution head coach Steve Nicol and his staff will select five additional All-Stars, who will join two other commissioner selections to comprise the MLS 18-man roster. Nicol earned the honor of coaching the MLS side by leading his team to the highest points per game average in MLS through games on June 25.
