A-LEAGUE
First-year Orlando came from five points behind on the last week of the season to overtake perennial power Minnesota for the final playoff berth in the Central Division. A pair of away wins for the Sundogs, combined with two Thunder losses in Blaine, did the trick. The Sundogs beat Orange County 3-0, then came from behind to edge Atlanta 2-1 on a Sheldon Lee goal three minutes into sudden death. Minnesota, which reached the final four in each of its three seasons in the USISL, was undone, as it had been all season, by its inability to score. The Thunder fell to Colorado 1-0 and Montreal 4-0. The Impact, which finished with the best record during the regular season, has won five straight…. Other division champs were New Orleans, Hershey and California. The Jaguars overtook Seattle with a pair of wins on the last week of the season. They fought back with two goals in the final six minutes from Jerome Watson and an overtime goal from Mark Baena to beat Atlanta 3-2 and clinch the Pacific Division title. California finished the regular season with six wins in a row, the longest active streak of any team in the league…. Toronto, meanwhile, made the playoffs despite losing its last five games of the season. The Lynx fell to the Hershey 4-3 and Rochester 3-2 to conclude its first regular season…. Seattle will be without Canadian defender Mark Watson for the playoffs. Watson, who was signed after being cut by the New England Revolution in preseason, has been loaned to Swedish First Division club IF Oester for the fall. Oester is currently fighting to avoid relegation. It’s Watson’s fourth club in the last two seasons. He was picked up by New England last summer after being released by the Columbus Crew.
