A feisty Sunday League football game in the northeast of England ended with a player’s $216,000 Aston Martin smashed up in the parking lot after a postgame fracas, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
Andrew Wilson was assaulted and his DB9 Volante convertible was pelted with bricks and concrete after his side, the Boldon Lad pub team, won a road game 7-2 at Lukes Lane FC last February. The game also involved some “heavy tackles on both sides,” the court heard. The damage cost $18,000 to repair.
Lukes Lanes’ Mark McShane was sent off just before the hour mark, and there was an altercation in the parking lot after the game between Wilson on the one side, and McShane and two other individuals on the other that lead to the assault and the damage before Wilson’s teammates intervened. The latter three were all handed various community orders, fines, curfews and suspended prison sentences.
