Frankie Hejduk has scored in the 53rd minute to give the USA a 1-0 lead over Austria. Claudio Reyna took a pass on the left wing from Wolfsburg teammate Chad Deering and dribbled into the box, where he burst through a pair of Austrian defenders and drew out keeper Franz Wohlfarht (who had subbed in at halftime for Michael Konsel). Reyna then dished the ball to the right, where a streaking Hejduk poked it home past a defender from five yards out. The U.S., with Brian McBride replacing David Wagner at halftime, has pressured the Austrians more this half. Ernie Stewart nearly scored in the 47th minute when his shot from the top of the box was well saved by Wohlfarht.
