The international transfer window closes in a week, and Colorado Rapids coach Fernando Clavijo has said that U.S. national team players Eddie Lewis, Benny Feilhaber and Cory Gibbs are all considering moves to MLS, reports Brian Forbes.
The Rapids “have a good seat at the table,” Forbes writes, being second in line behind the L.A. Galaxy for an allocation and with some spare cash. Although they are looking for a striker, Clavijo said the team would consider “anyone who can help them in the stretch run.”
The Rapids are on a 0-1-2 streak, and will be looking to secure a playoff place in its remaining 12 games in the tight Western Conference. Even though they have the second worst record in MLS, they are nonetheless just six points off the division lead. “We’re possessing the ball, but the problem is teams are creating two chances and they score two goals,” Clavijo said. Pinpointing the solution, he added: “We need to win. We have to win.”
